Being able to land on a dream job does not happen to everybody. However, you should bear in mind that landing on a dream job is not enough.  Even when you get the job, you still have to work hard to be able to keep this job as your lifetime career.  If you don’t want to lose your job, here are eight common mistakes you will probably want to avoid:

Getting Lured into High Salaries

A lot of people think that those companies who offer higher salaries should be where their ideal job can be found. This is why they immediately hop into trying to land a job with this company, only to find out later that the company is at risk of closing sooner than expected.

Not Knowing about the Company

If you plan to apply with any company, be sure to research first to see what they are about.  Try to browse the internet for some information about the company so you will have an idea about their stability as well as your chances of getting a secured job.

Lying about your Skills and Qualifications

Many people lie about their skills and qualifications with the hope that their résumé would look better.  But in the end, that lie will catch up to you and sooner or later, you will end up being kicked out of the company soon after their employer discovered that they are not the perfect person for the position.

Not Giving Your Best Shot

Many people only go to work for the sake of earning money.  They continuously perform their tasks haphazardly, and as a result, they end up not winning a promotion and worse yet — they find themselves in need of another job someplace else.

Tolerating Tardiness

If you always arrive to the workplace late, then you are at risk of getting fired.  If you have this habit of procrastinating things, you better think about getting rid of this bad habit before your employer will get rid of you.

Hating Your Job

If you hate your current job, try to look at the positive things that your job or workplace has.  If that positive thing is somehow so hard to find for you, you might as well think about resigning and look for another job. Otherwise, you’ll never be able to find yourself being positively productive.

Not Being Nice to Everybody

Whether you are working in a small or huge company, it is a must that you maintain good working relationships with everybody even to the company janitors and utility people. They, too, have the voice to tell your boss about the bad things you do.

Working Just to Impress the Boss

Many employees pretend to be super busy when they know their employers are looking at them.  But, when their bosses are not around they will just put their feet on top of the table and browse Facebook.
